Mr. Smith is an associate in the Business Trial and Intellectual Property Practice Groups in the firm's Los Angeles office.
Areas of Practice
Mr. Smith has worked on intellectual property matters including patent, copyright, trademark, and trade secret. He has represented companies involved in diverse technologies, including DNA sequencing, pet products, solar-powered LED devices, and plastic bag dispensers.
Mr. Smith has also worked on a wide range of business litigation issues.
Prior to joining Sheppard Mullin, Mr. Smith developed karyotype protocols for obtaining chromosome karyotypes from both rodent and human venous blood samples. Mr. Smith was also one of ten students selected as Summer Research Interns at the Huntington Medical Research Institute (HMRI) in Pasadena where he assisted with research directed toward growing rabbit hepatocytes in a "zero-gravity" bioreactor to try and form mini-livers for use in drug testing.
