Ms. Johnson is an associate in the Labor and Employment and Business Trials Practice Groups in the firm's Washington, D.C. office.
Areas of Practice
Ms. Johnson has a wide-ranging practice, which includes labor and employment counseling and litigation, as well as commercial litigation and criminal defense. Ms. Johnson routinely counsels companies regarding the implications of, and compliance with, various federal laws, including the National Labor Relations Act, the Railway Labor Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, as well as lobbying disclosure and campaign finance laws. Ms. Johnson also works with clients to conduct internal investigations in the employment context, as well as in connection with federal criminal investigations, particularly under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Ms. Johnson also regularly assists clients in drafting and implementing employment policies, as well as other policies and procedures, in compliance with state and federal laws.
Ms. Johnson has significant experience representing companies and individuals in arbitration, as well as in litigation in state and federal court. Ms. Johnson also routinely represents companies before various administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board, the Department of Labor, National Mediation Board and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Additionally, Ms. Johnson regularly assists individuals and companies in drafting and negotiating employment, severance, non-competition, and non-solicitation agreements and advises clients regarding the labor and employment aspects of various corporate transactions.
Prior to beginning her legal career, Ms. Johnson worked in the United States Senate on a range of issues, including the judiciary, civil rights, and telecommunications. In addition to her legal work, Ms. Johnson is a member of Sheppard Mullin’s Recruiting Committee and the Associate Committee.
